WhyDonate started with a frustration. As a student raising money for charities, founder Niels Corver kept hitting the same wall: the tools were inefficient and unfriendly to donors, and too much got lost along the way. He was sure it could be done better - simpler, fairer and more human. In 2012, that conviction became WhyDonate.
More than a decade later the belief is unchanged: nothing should stand between a good cause and the people who want to support it. It's why we've charged 0% platform fees from day one - and why real people, not just software, help you along the way.

How Does WhyDonate Make Money?
WhyDonate charges 0% platform fees - we take nothing from the money you raise. Instead, the platform is funded by optional, voluntary tips: when someone donates, they can choose to add a small contribution to WhyDonate. They set the amount, and they can set it to zero.
A standard payment-processing fee (charged by Stripe) applies to each donation and is always shown clearly before it's completed - that goes to Stripe, not to WhyDonate. So almost all of every donation goes straight to your cause.
