For most countries, including the EU and the UK, it takes up to 3 business days for a donation to clear and for the payout to be processed by our payment partner, Stripe. After that, your own bank may need another 0-2 business days to show the money in your account.
From donation to your bank
- The donation clears. After a donor contributes, their payment needs to clear. This is a standard security step for all financial transactions.
- The payout starts. Once cleared, the funds are available in your WhyDonate balance for payout.
- Your bank credits the money. Depending on your bank's processing times, this can take an additional 0-2 business days.
Payout speeds vary slightly by country. Stripe publishes the full list of payout speeds by country.
Choosing your payout schedule
You control when you receive your funds from your WhyDonate account:
- Weekly — an automatic payout is sent to you every week.
- Monthly — all cleared funds arrive in one monthly transfer.
- Payout Now — click the Payout Now button on your balance to start a manual transfer of all cleared donations straight away.
Tip: the Balance page in your account shows exactly which amount is still to be paid out.
